2025 VIENNA NPT WORKSHOP, CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS – POSSIBLE OUTCOME(S) FOR A SUCCESSFUL PREPCOM SESSION III
MATILDA ALOMATU OSEI-AGYEMAN, AMBASSADOR & PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF GHANA TO VIENNA
VIENNA, 2ND APRIL 2025
Multilateralism remains our best avenue to address global disarmament and non-proliferation issues for a safer and secure world.
Therefore we call for stronger commitments to Nuclear Weapon Free Zones, especially the Treaty of Pelindaba, which established the Africa nuclear-weapon-free zone {ANWFZ} on the African continent (the world’s largest nuclear-weapon-free zone).
Most importantly, we are deeply committed to the peaceful uses of nuclear energy to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030 with the IAEA’s provision of peaceful nuclear technology to its Member States, especially Africa, in many fields including nuclear energy, agriculture, human health, industry, environmental protection, water management, human resource and capacity development.
