H.E Matilda Alomatu Osei-Agyeman paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Nikolaus Marschik, Secretary-General of the Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Federal Republic of Austria on Tuesday, 26th August, 2025 to discuss bilateral issues between Ghana and Austria.
The pair discussed on-going bold steps to deepen bilateral relations for their mutual benefit. They recalled the various collaborative efforts undertaken between the two countries in the past couple of months and called for follow-up action in order to achieve concrete results, particularly in the area of trade and investment meant to take the relationship beyond political to enhance strong economic ties for socio-economic developments.
Ambassador Alomatu Osei-Agyeman briefed the Secretary-General about the business transformation agenda of the President Mahama Administration through the 24-hour economy policy which will provide huge opportunities for Austrian investors to consider critical sectors of the Ghanaian economy, while leveraging Ghana’s status as the commercial capital of Africa with the hosting of the AfCFTA secretariat.
Ambassador Alomatu Osei-Agyeman expressed appreciation to the Government of Austria for its concrete efforts aimed at deepening relations with Ghana and commended the country for the reciprocal opening of Austria’s diplomatic Mission in Accra to promote people to people interaction. The operationalization of the consular section of the Austrian Embassy was emphasised.
Other issues relating to global peace and security, Multilateralism and Austria’s UN Security Council bid were discussed.
