Her Excellency Matilda Aku Alomatu Osei-Agyeman met with Ghanaian staff at the UN in Vienna on 13th February, 2025, to discuss strategies for enhancing collective achievements. She expressed gratitude for collaborations with UN agencies, emphasizing partnerships with them such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO), the United Nations Office for Outer Space (UNOOSA) the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law(UNCITRAL), among others.
She emphasised areas for collaboration in areas such as nuclear technology and non-proliferation, health, industrial development, space law/technology, addressing challenges posed by illicit drugs and crime, international trade, security, all aimed at achieving the SDGs.
Highlighting Ghana’s chairmanship of the IAEA Board of Governors until September 2025, she reaffirmed her commitment to facilitating smooth deliberations.
The Ambassador also underscored the importance of agribusiness and agro-industrialization for African economies, advocating for leveraging UNIDO’s expertise to support Ghana’s initiatives. She stressed that these sectors are pivotal for sustainable development and economic growth, aligning with broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s global competitiveness through innovation and strategic partnerships.
